on the Bartram Trail Section
Event Location: This Pedal & Paddle event will begin at Kernsville Recreation Area, located at 25 Kernsville Dam Rd, Hamburg, PA 19526. There will be Schuylkill River Greenways and Take It Outdoors staff to help direct you. Plan to arrive a few minutes early to confirm all necessary waivers have been signed.
Pottstown Shuttle: This year we are offering a free shuttle van up to Kernville for those who don’t wish to drive up there. If you would like to join the shuttle from Pottstown River Front Park, please select the option during registration. Plan to arrive at 8:15AM because the shuttle will leave promptly at 8:30AM. If you miss the shuttle, you will be responsible for your own transportation to the event. The shuttle is located at 140 College Drive, Pottstown, PA 19464.
Event Description: This CYCLING ONLY adventure will take you down the Bartram Trail Section of the SRT in Hamburg. This excursion is a 7.5-mile round bike ride, will give you the opportunity to take in all the beautiful fall colors, landscapes, and wildlife! As you are taking in all the colorful fall foliage, you will also ride by where the SRT and the Appalachian Trail meet! We will then eat lunch on our Auburn Bridge before heading back down the SRT. All gear, certified guides, and food are included. Must be 16 or older to participate. All events limited to 15 participants.
What to Bring: All equipment, including bikes and helmets are provided. A box lunch will be served. However, it is recommended that you bring the following items.
- Prefilled water bottle/s with at least 32 ounces of water per participant
- Sunscreen
- Insect repellent
- Sunglasses
- Bike helmet (we do have extras if you don’t have your own)
Any items, such as cellphones or keys that you do not wish to bring on the water with you, can be left with staff prior to the start of the event.
Itinerary: Please note all times are approximate.
8:30AM - Pottstown shuttle van leaves for Kernsville
9:30AM - Shuttle van arrives at Kernsville
10:00AM - Introductions and bike safety briefing
10:15AM - Begin guided bike ride on the Schuylkill River Trail
11:00AM - Arrive at the Auburn Bridge for lunch
11:45AM - Head back down the SRT
1:00PM - Arrive back at the Kernsville Recreation Area
1:15PM - Shuttle leaves to head back to Pottstown
2:15PM - Shuttle arrives back at Pottstown
