Betzwood Park to Norristown 

Event Location: This Pedal & Paddle event will begin from Betzwood Park, located at 150 Sullivan's Bridge, Norristown, PA 19403. (Betzwood Boat Ramp Lot) There will be a Schuylkill River Greenways staff member helping direct you to the parking area. Plan to arrive a few minutes early, to confirm all necessary waivers have been signed.

Event Description: This Pedal & Paddle program is a round-trip adventure, which begins and ends from the same location along the Schuylkill River/Trail. The excursion includes a 4.5 -mile bike ride along the Schuylkill River Trail using cruisers from the free Pottstown-based bike share program. It also includes a group paddle on the Schuylkill River of the same length. A National Park Service ranger will discuss the historical Valley Forge. And lastly, a boxed lunch will be provided. All gear, certified guides and food are included. Must be 16 or older to participate. All events limited to 15 participants.

What to Bring: All equipment, including bikes, kayaks, paddles and personal flotation devices (PFDs) are provided, and a box lunch will be served. However, it is recommended that you bring the following items.

• Prefilled water bottle/s with at least 32 ounces of water per participant
• Sunscreen
• Insect repellent
• Hat & Sunglasses
• Water shoes or old sneakers (backless sandals and crocs aren’t recommended)
• Bike helmet (we do have extras if you don’t have your own)
• Dry bag

Any items, such as cellphones or keys that you do not wish to bring on the water with you can be left with staff prior to the start of the event.

Itinerary: Please note all times are approximate.

10:00 – Introduction and discussion with NPS Ranger the history of Valley Forge.

10:30 – Safety briefing and begin guided paddle down the Schuylkill River

11:30 – Arrive at Norristown River Front Park for a water break and bike safety briefing

12:30 – Leave Norristown River Front Park with a 4.5 Mile bike ride to return to Betzwood Park

1:30 – Arrive back at Betzwood Park for lunch.
